Official Press Release: [Erica] We have really slacked off. We are three months late with this web page and let me tell you, a lot has happened since then. First of all, the baby that was so content to sit on his butt all day and play has become a walking, actually, mostly running, toddler with many bruises. I am glad he took his time with the walking, because now we are thoroughly exhausted. Not to mention, our hallway has now become a speedway zone for Mr. Man.
He is also starting to talk quite a bit. I can't tell you what his first word was, probably "bus." He does not know to call us mom and dad yet, but nevertheless he has mastered the most important word in all of the English vocabulary, coffee. Every morning during my medicine rotation we would wake up at the same time (5:30AM - boo) and I would take him in the kitchen and teach him how to make coffee. This was all super cute until the first morning I was able to sleep in a little late (6:45 - still boo) and sure enough at 6:00 from Diego's room I hear, "Coffee, coffee, coffee?" Rotten kid.
Finally, with many teeth has come Free Will. Pediatricians have always known that the terrible twos start around 15 months, so why hasn't the word hit the street (or at least our street). If Diego doesn't want to do something, you are definitely going to hear about it. That boy can be straight stubborn. We all know that he's inherited his impatience and easily frustrated nature from the Obermans, the stubborness is pure, 100% Romero. I know it because when he gets so stinking set on something and throws a mondo fit (complete body limpness, crying, foaming at the mouth, sweaty, snotty fit), I swear that's when he looks the most like me. It's a little embarrasing.
With toddlerhood comes a sense of humor, the ability to have tickle fights, wrestling matches and hide and go seek marathons for hours, which is great thing to come home to at the end of the day.
