Here is the new slide-show
Official Press Release: [Erica] So, our friend Christian loves getting our mass emails, but after the last one he wrote back "very cute, but give me more! What's it really like?" Well, it's mostly great. After the big six week hump (you guys remember, we wanted to give Diego up to the first "safe baby drop" we could find), things just got better and better. Was it because Diego was such a good egg, or because we were becoming better parents? I don't really know, I just know, he's getting be be worth all the fuss. Despite all the pictures of the wrinkled forehead, Diego is a mellow kid, who sleeps through the night and already knows how to ignore and tune me out. And if you can believe that 7 month old can have a sense of humor, he might even take third in the Oberman Family Funny Contest (Zach is number one and I am number two -- most of the time. Ari just points out when he's funny and then complains that the contest is rigged). Okay, Diego has his days of cryptogenic crying spells, but they are really far and few between, so we can't really hold it against him.
As for the whole, how am I handling medical school and being a mom, a wife and master of the laundry -- it's going well. I am not going to say I am the most rested individual, but I think I've got my priorities straight. After a long day at the hospital I come home, put Diego in his swing, close his door, go into the front room, watch Lost and drink a beer -- does it get any better than that? Okay, sometimes I watch Entourage. No, for serious, it is really rewarding to come home to Diego after a long day of being pimped (which I just found out stands for "Put In My Place", now someone has to tell me what STAT stands for). He really doesn't care whether or not I know the structures that make up Hasselbach's Triangle or the the role of auxiliary dissection with a cystosarcoma phyllodes tumor. He just likes the fact that I don't mind him sucking on my chin (it feels really gross) or that I never get tired of singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider to him (maximum times sung in one day -- 120). If I could change one thing about Diego, it would be his inability to sleep in on the weekends (which doesn't matter that much, because when you are waking up at 4AM 5/7 days, 6:45 feels like a dream come true).
